A short 60 minute drive from Hobart, Hamlet Downs is a picturesque bed and breakfast or self-contained facility situated in Tasmanias picture perfect Derwent Valley. We are also close to the famous Russell Falls and Mt Field National Park (15 minutes). Lakes Pedder and Gordon as well as the Styx valley are nearby. Overflowing beds of cottage garden favourites intermingled with natives surround the cottage. These melt into a sprawling vegetable patch, orchard and a series of water ponds. There is a 1.5 km walking track along our creek and around extensive dams where our resident platypus and other wildlife are often seen. Hamlet Downs offers guests complete privacy. The four guest bedrooms are: Possum king sized bed with ensuite Bandicoot queen sized bed with ensuite Platypus queen sized bed and private bathroom facilities Potaroo 2 single beds with private bathroom facilities A cot is available on request. We provide a cosy guest lounge room, dining room and outside verandah areas. The facility is fully heated, with either fireplaces or electrical heaters. There is also a full kitchen in the main facility as well as a laundry. Coffee and tea making facilities, hairdryers, radios and television are also provided. Light provisions or a fully cooked breakfast is available at extra cost as well as dinner, which ranges from light meals to a full 3 course banquet. We use our own home-grown seasonal produce for meals including free range eggs. |
